Hey everybody!
Do you think fireflies are pretty? 你覺得螢火蟲漂亮嗎？ I do! I love fireflies … I like to watch them at night!
Taiwan has lots of very pretty fireflies. They are so beautiful! Fireflies shine … like stars! 螢火蟲一閃一閃的 …好像天上的星星
Sometimes, I go to Maoli to see fireflies … or Kaohisung or Pingtung … I go all over Taiwan to see fireflies! 我全台灣都跑就是為了看螢火蟲
But we have a problem! There are not so many fireflies now!
現在的問題是，螢火蟲沒那麼多了...the fireflies are going away! Oh my!
It's very sad! I want to see LOTS of fireflies every year … not just one or two …
So...why are fireflies saying 'bye bye'? 為甚麼螢火要離開我們呢
Maybe … because it's too bright! There are too many lights at night.
晚上有太多的燈了
People like light. We use lots of light at night.
We have lights in our house, lights on our car, lights on the street, lights
in the park … everywhere has light at night!
But fireflies DON'T like light! 螢火蟲喜歡暗暗的，They need a dark, dark
night ... then they can shine like stars! 這樣他們才能像星星一樣閃閃發亮
Hmmm… Maybe people can turn off some lights. 也許我們應該關掉一些燈
Maybe we don't need so many lights at night. 晚上根本用不到這麼多燈， 對吧
Then ... maybe more fireflies will come back!
I hope so. I hope we can turn off more lights at night … so my firefly friends can shine like stars!
If it's too bright … we can't see the stars … and we can't see the fireflies!
太亮就看不到星星，看不到螢火蟲了
Good luck, fireflies! I hope you find dark, dark places … where you can shine!

Hi Everybody! I love swimming and snorkeling! 我喜歡游泳還有浮潛Snorkeling is
great … why? Well, because I can see and swim … like a fish!
You can see so many beautiful things in the ocean around Taiwan … pretty
fish … colorful coral … and my favorite ……………………. SEA TURTLES!
海裡可以看到魚珊瑚還有海龜
I know about a wonderful little island near Pingtung in southern Taiwan -the
water is so clean南臺灣有個地方水很乾淨… and many people like to go there
for swimming and snorkeling 很多人會去浮潛.-- That's right! The island is
called XIAOLIUCHIU! XiaoLiuChiu is great! But can you guess my favorite thing
about that island? Sea Turtles!
You can see sea turtles … see sea turtles in the sea!
But some people are not very nice to the ocean! They throw garbage into the
sea! 有些人會丟垃圾到海裡. That's not cool! And some people are not so nice
to the sea turtles. They touch them and even step on them!
有人會摸海龜或是踩他們- HEY! -That's rude! 這樣很沒禮貌耶
We should never throw garbage in the ocean, right? The poor sea turtles might
eat the garbage! They could get sick! Oh No!
我們不應該丟垃圾到海裡啦，海龜吃了會生病的
Let's be nice to the Xiaoliuchiu sea turtles, ok? And let's take care of
XiaoLiuChiu Island. We can swim near the sea turtles … and we can look at
them… but we never touch them! OK?
Do you want to see the sea turtles in the sea? Come to Xiaoliuchiu with me
next time!
Now I'm going to get out of these wet clothes before I catch a cold!

AHHH! ….. Oww ! Oh, my! That mosquito bit me, like, five times!
Oh, mosquitos are so annoying! I really don't like mosquitoes!
蚊子真的很煩!我討厭蚊子
Oh, hi everybody! What do you think about mosquitoes? --Yeah! They're no fun.
They wake me up at night with that buzzing ….
They bite and it's soooo itchy! 被蚊子咬很癢呢And, they can make people very
sick.
Every year in Taiwan …. and all over the world, people get sick with dengue
fever … from mosquito bites!
每年在台灣，甚至全球，恨多人都因為被蚊子咬而感染登革熱
Dengue fever makes you feel hot …with a fever … and your whole-body hurts … and you feel really bad!
We should be careful of mosquitoes and not get a mosquito bite … because we don't want to get Dengue Fever! 不想有登革熱就不要被蚊子咬到喔
BUT … you might not know …. most of the time, mosquitoes actually help the world! That's right! 蚊子其實對世界是有幫助的，很難想像吧
Some plants and flowers need mosquitoes!
Why? Because some mosquitoes pick up tiny seeds from plants and flowers …
then the mosquitoes spread the seeds so more plants and flowers can grow!
有些植物需要蚊子來幫他們散播種子
It's cool that mosquitoes help plants and flowers, right?
But mosquitoes don't help people at all. Sometimes they give us Dengue
Fever! -- So, don't let them bite you!
Oh, guess what? Mosquitoes like dark colors 知道嗎? 蚊子喜歡黑色…
so if you wear bright clothes … like a white shirt … maybe the mosquitoes won't bite so much!
AHHHH! That's another mosquito! OK … I'm going inside to put on mosquito spray!
AH! GO AWAY!!
AHHH! ….. Oww ! Oh, my! That mosquito bit me, like, five times!

What a nice dream! I was dreaming about lunch time! And eating tasty
hamburgers.
"Oh, hi everyone! I really like hamburgers. How about you? Do you like
hamburgers?
They are soooooooo yummy! The yummy meat, the yummy bun, yummy, yummy,
yummy………
oh my, now I'm really hungry! 說的我都肚子餓了
But did you know some people don't eat hamburgers?!.......... ( No Way!!! )
It's true. All over the world, many, many people don't eat meat - they only
eat vegetables!
很多人不吃肉，只吃蔬菜
Some people don't eat meat because they don't want to hurt animals, some
vegetarians don't eat meat to save the environment and some vegetarians don't
eat meat for their health.
有些吃素的人是因為不想殺生， 有些是為了健康
But, many people like the TASTE of a hamburger … even some vegetarians!
And today is a special day! Today I'm going to try a super cool new veggie
burger! ...........
I'm going with my friend who is a vegetarian to a restaurant that has a
hamburger with FAKE meat made from vegetables! But this "meat" REALLY tastes
like meat it even looks like meat, and feels like meat too!
看起來或吃起來像肉，甚至摸起來像真的肉! 但是不是肉
These fake meat burgers are really cool!
MMM… I can hardly wait! Ah, the bread and veggies and the meat… oh yeah No
Meat!
I hope it's yummy.. I'm so excited! Veggie hamburgers! Wow! Now I'm really
hungry!!
